Spring is here, how wonderful, my favourite time of year. Although the weather is still a little fresh at the moment as we are in the first week of October , it will soon be time to store our winter knits away.
Working in retail I find numerous returns of knitwear where customers have not followed the instructions on the care label for their beautiful purchases.
People coming in showing us how their beautiful knit has shrunk as they have not cared to look at the care label.
It is recommended that you wash your knits once per year.
Most of us are washing our beloved knitwear too often. Which means the fibres get worn down more quickly.
It has been recommended that you wash your precious knitwear at the end of each season to preserve the fabric and look.
Spot clean where necessary by gently blotting with water.
At the end of the season gently handwash, dry flat and then fold away.
Have you noticed that on luxury knitwear the care labels state to 'dry clean only'?
It is recommended to hand wash to nourish and restore the fibres gently in cold water.
Avoid washing in a washing machine as the spin cycle can cause shrinkage.
Gently lay on a towel and roll to absorb the water and lay flat to dry.
Do you have any tips to offer for caring for your knitwear?
Reminder to
Shine Bright
